More and more parents are deciding to homeschool for a variety of reasons. Here are just a few of these reasons: The desire to have control over what your child is being taught. Today's public schools are teaching evolution, humanism, liberal political agendas, tolerance for homosexual "lifestyles", and more.  Christian parents should be teaching their children from a biblical perspective. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6 The desire to have more control over who your children's friends are. Your children are more likely to find Christian friends in your local church than in public school where unbelievers from all backgrounds and lifestyles can influence your child at a tender age. We all remember the peer pressure we faced as kids. The desire to keep your child physically safe. Your children will be safer at home than in a high school where they shower with other students and armed police officers walk the halls. The desire to create a customized education for your child based on his or her learning style, interests, and ability. Studies show that homeschooled students score higher on average on standardized tests. The desire to provide a more affordable and higher quality education than a Christian school provides. Large Christian schools are usually expensive and liberal in their doctrinal stand. They are often patterned closely after public schools and the students there can be worse than those found in public schools. This is because some of the most delinquent kids are placed in private schools as a last ditch attempt to reform them. Many smaller independent, fundamental Baptist church schools are affordable, but they are often understaffed and taught by uneducated, underpaid housewives.  Kids that go to these schools tend to enjoy church less since they feel like they are always there. I heard one pastor say that he homeschooled his kids because the Christian school does not provide a hunger and thirst for righteousness. The children in these schools are usually taught from workbooks which could just as easily be administered at home by the parents. These small Christian schools can also turn into reform schools for the worst of the worst, but the lack of supervision in these low budget schools is the most dangerous part of all.
