Home Schooling: Don’t Know Where to Start?
Here are a few tips for getting started

Check the regulations in your state regarding home schooling and make the necessary preparations to follow them.

Determine your teaching style as well as your child/children’s learning style(s).

Research and purchase your curriculum. Choose materials that are in line with your doctrinal beliefs, academically sound, user friendly, and that fit with your child's learning style. You will also want to decide on a Scripture memorization schedule for your child/children if this is not included in your curriculum.

Plan a daily schedule that works for you and your family. Don’t forget P.E. You can take your kids to the park on certain days of the week and exercise and play with them. If you have friends that are homeschooling, you can get all of the kids together regularly to play sports. Your church's Christian school may allow your child to participate in their sports program. Registering your children for team sports or "camps" that are available in your community is yet another option.

Decide where your children will do their work and purchase the necessary furniture, school supplies, and visual aids (globe, maps, etc.).

Choose a record keeping system for your home school that is in keeping with your state's requirements. If your child is in high school, you might decide to use an "umbrella school" that will keep the records for you.

Decide on some kind of incentive plan to keep your kids excited and motivated. This need not be anything expensive.
